"An Unfair Battle"

"An Unfair Battle"

An unfair battle

Underestimated how quickly the depression would take over.
But, it spreads like spilled blood on wet ground.
Inmates have taken over the asylum.

Traumatic events, harsh words, and negative energy…
transpiring one right after another.
Rapid fire of invalidating bullets penetrate right through weakened armor.
By then, it was too little too late, no break to replenish.

An unfair battle, I’d say.
But, that’s what they wait for - an opening in the defense, moments of weakness.
Those demons, lying in wait, an opportunity of convenience.
Taking over all operations, absorbing all that is left, dimming the lights,
and spewing stifled venom with a sharp tongue.

All that can be done now is to catalog the wreckage,
heal the wounds, and place escaped demons back in stronger cages.

The process begins again.
